Annika and I had such a great time in California. We decide to use Max's 1st birthday as an excuse to take a trip to visit family and friends. The week flew by and Annika got to know her family a little better. Since we've been home she frequently asks to Max and her Aunt and Uncles.
Annika after church.

Annika with her Halloween bag from Aunt Cinnamon. She really enjoys it.

Max reading his book. He's so adorable.

Annika and Max discovering fun things to get in to.

Annika walking on the beach. She called it a "sandbox."

Annika enjoying the beach.

Annika did such a great job walking along the beach the day before I decided not to take the stroller the next day. She didn't make it very far before she decided she needed a lift from Grandpa.

Uncle John taking a turn walking Annika back to the car.

We had a nice visit with my good friend Sue. I miss her so much. Look at the amazing mum on her front porch.

We took a trip to Downtown Disney one evening. Annika loved this giraffe at the Lego store.

We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe the night before Max's birthday.

Max celebrating the eve of his birthday at the Rainforest Cafe.

Annika sitting on the lap of a gorilla.

Six months ago Annika would have been afraid of this gorilla.

Annika thinking she's grown up enough to ride without a car seat. Not quite kiddo.

Annika loved Uncle David's dog, Emma.

Annika making herself comfortable in Emma's cage. Or as Uncle David says, this is how he babysits his niece.

Uncle Tom grilling before Max's party.

The birthday boy with his Daddy and Uncle David. It was cute to see how excited he would get around both of them.

Annika blowing a party favor. The kids loved these, and I thought they were great because the kids couldn't blow them hard enough for them to make any noise.

Max trying to blow a party favor too.

Hands down this must have been Max's favorite birthday present; a box of cookies.

Max did a good job opening presents.

Max's cousins decided they would help move things along.

Max's birthday theme was from Where the Wild Things Are. Cinnamon made cute cupcakes.

Max with his first cupcake.

Trying his first bite of cake.

Max enjoying his cake. I was impressed. Annika only ate the whip cream off the top of her one year old cupcake. She wouldn't even try a bite of cake until well after she was two.

Uncle Tom and Annika enjoying cupcakes, or make that frosting for Annika.

Cherie and I took Annika to see the Newport Beach Temple one morning. It was a beautiful day!

Annika loves the temple. She particularly enjoyed sticking her hands in the water feature.

Cherie and me. I can't wait until next month when she will visit and I will get to go to the D.C. temple with her for my first time.

It was truly a gorgeous day.

Annika on the lawn. She was so relaxed I probably could have left her there and she would have taken a good nap.

Annika at Uncle David & Aunt Heather's house. She had so much fun there.

Our last evening together at Uncle David's house. Annika and Emma were always together, regardless if Emma wanted to be or not.

Annika loves her Grandma. We talk about her a lot. I can't believe we didn't take flowers. We were following by brother and were on the wrong side of the highway to stop for some. I thought we would have a chance to go back, but we ran out of time. Regardless of the lack of flowers, I'm sure my mom appreciated a visit from her kids and grand daughter.

The only picture of Tom's complete family I have. Cinnamon is not a huge fan of being in pictures, although I can relate to how she feels.

Grandpa and Annika.

Aunt Kari and Annika.

Just before we left for the airport. It was sad saying goodbye to everyone.
