Burrrrr It's Cold!

This is the time of year we really miss the West Coast. Yesterday we had a low of 1 degree early in the morning, but it warmed up to 26 degrees later in the day. This has been typical weather for the last few days, and as usual, all this cold weather has brought us zero snow to enjoy. Instead, it has brought us freezing pipes in our very poorly insulated master bath. So this morning Joe woke up to the sound of running water, and when he let the dogs out he noticed the entire backyard was flooded and parts of it look like a mini ice rink. The water to our house is now shut off, and poor Joe is under the crawl space trying to do a quick fix so we can turn the water back on while we wait for a plumber. Annika and I are sick, yes, another side effect of freezing weather, too much dry air from the heater being cranked to full blast, and practically zero fresh air because it's just too cold to go outside. And for the icing on the cake, this afternoon it is supposed to get just warm enough to shower us with freezing cold rain. All I can say right now is..."California dreaming, on such a winter's day."

Some of the frozen water in our backyard.
What isn't frozen is just cold mud for the dogs to get into.
So as not to be a downer, here are a few cute pictures of Annika being her adorable little self.

Our big helper, Annika washing the sink and cabinets.

If this weather doesn't warm up soon, you may soon gain a little helper at your house. We have discovered that Annika's hair is now long enough for pigtails, but her patience for styling these cute tresses isn't quiet long enough.
