May was such a busy month, but it was a lot of fun.  Joe has been wanting to go to Los Alamos since we moved here, and we finally got around to it.  Los Alamos is a beautiful city built on the tops of the mesas, and very interesting to learn about the beginnings of this once secret city.  Los Alamos made for a perfect day trip.

 The burn area from the fires last year.  The fire came right up to the back yards of many houses.  

 We had an unexpected hail storm one afternoon.

 Annika had fun playing outside after the hail ended and wanted to taste a few pieces of ice.

 Joe got Annika and I tulips for mother's day, my favorite.  He's so sweet how he always remembers Annika.

 Annika took this picture of the grass growing out of plastic cups she decorated.  The grass died when we went to Maryland due to lack of water.  One of the first things she asked was what happened to the grass?

 Annika and Brayden eating yummy chocolate covered strawberries Joe made for mother's day.  He also grilled outside and let me sleep in...such a pleasure.

Aunt Kari came for a visit in May.  Conveniently she had a conference to attend in Santa Fe and came a few days early to spend some time with us.  It was fun to have company and an excuse to do something different from our daily routine

We also experienced an eclipse of the sun while Kari was here.  It happened to land on her birthday.

 Yeah, mission blow out candles complete.  So happy for an excuse to eat cake!
