Eye Scare

The night we left for Germany Joseph's eyes started bothering him. He was hoping they were just tired, but after much rest they never got better. In fact, they started getting worse while on our trip. Joe knew he was at risk for his retinas detaching, so of course we were super worried this is what was happening. We tried to take it easy on our trip and took a couple days to just let his rest. Of course we were anxious to return home so he could go to the doctors. We took the first available flight home and went to the doctors that day. Turned out one retina was torn at the edges at two places and starting to detach, and the other eye was about to do the same. He had emergency laser surgery on both eyes and seems to be doing just fine now. His doctors will be keeping a close watch on his eyes and he will have to go see the eye doctor on a regular basis from now on, but boy am I happy for modern technology that can help correct problems like this before they become worse.
