For the past few days we've been trying to teach Annika about Halloween and what to expect...this was her first year we were going to let her trick or treat at our neighbors. We told her she had to ring the doorbell, say trick or treat, and then tell the people thank you when they gave her candy. We watched a short show on the subject, and Annika got to dress up earlier this week for story time at the library and for her Music Together class. Here's how the night went. Annika happily dressed up as Little Red, took some pictures, and freaked out as we were walking out the yard and said we were going to the house with the big pumpkin (it was inflatable) in their yard. No longer was she interested in Halloween. Joe ended up taking Brayden to the big pumpkin house and Annika stayed way back in the middle of the street. We went to a total of four houses. At the fourth house she had the routine down and went to the door on her own. She was excited to go to a few more houses. Then we saw Santa! Yes, and boy in our neighborhood dressed up as Santa. He really was pretty cute. With a sudden outcry of terror Annika headed back home and was officially done with trick-or-treating for the evening. So I guess we wont be getting any pictures with Santa again this year. Funny thing is, she saw plenty of kids dressed as monsters, witches, and other scary things and wasn't scared, but Santa? What's so scary about a man who brings you toys?
About to go out.

Baby Lion Cub.

Taming the Lion's mane.

I want some candy too, Big Sis.

A squirrel had a feast of pumpkin.

Annika keeping Dad company outside as they passed out candy. I love watching them together, especially when they don't know I'm watching.

Daddy having fun with his little girl...still not knowing I'm watching from inside the house.

Family fun handing out candy. Aunt Kari was
freezing.
Little man was in heaven tying a lick of daddy's lollipop.
